Artist's Description
�Love� is a mixed media painting that I created in 2012 for my beloved. I used broad, free brush strokes over a textured under-painting and dripped thin outlines over the heart. There are veins of gold, silver, and black running throughout. The color palate is brilliant � rich in red, lavenders, pinks, and a deep wine foundation. A layered orchestra of movement, wild composition of organic marks, along with dimension and depth serve as a visual metaphor for the fluidity, uninhibited, and unbridled nature of love. This painting appears to pulsate and vibrate with energy and a luscious life force. This multi-layered painting of a heart - in this instance � depicts the iconic symbol of love, affection, and romantic emotion.
About Cleaster Cotton
CLEASTER COTTON Cleaster Cotton is an African American/Native American multimedia artist. Born into a large, close-knit family, she was lovingly raised by southern parents in Brooklyn, New York. Cleaster began traveling nationally and internationally at a young age - researching cultures, the arts, education, cuisine and nature. Her alma maters are Fordham University and San Diego City College. Cleaster’s scientific and natural approach to her creative process is influenced by the methodology of her ancestors, elders and ancients. At age five, she fell in love with her mother’s artistic abilities... and right then and there she knew she was an artist! Her first childhood creations were made of mud, twigs, paper and plant pigment....
